Cape Leeuwin & Spelunking

Busy day of checking out the sites around Margaret River in the Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park. We visited the Lighthouse and three incredible caves, known as Jewel, Lake and Mammoth caves. The lighthouse is the second tallest in Australia, and the tallest on the mainland at 39m. The Cape is the most south west point of Australia, where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet.

The lighthouse includes a few stairs, but that was just a warm up as all the caves had stairs, including the 300+ into (and out of) Lake Cave.

Mammoth cave was the last cave we visited, and was self guided. Although some of the caves had historic bone fragments, fossils and evidence of animal activity, more discoveries had been found in the Mammoth cave.
